Spanish Game Nights: “Juegos de la palabra” ~ Fall 2017Organizer/Designer | Department of Spanish and Linguistics, Philadelphia Alumni Writers House and Faculty Center at Franklin & Marshall College.
September - November, 2017 The “Juegos de la palabra” is a second-language tournament in which students play word games while practicing their Spanish skills during three encounters (Oct. 20, Nov. 3, and Nov. 17). Based on a high motivation and a ludic environment, this activity will be an ideal opportunity for F&M Spanish students to practice and increase their lexicon, share their knowledge and learning enthusiasm — all while having fun with their classmates. Organized by the Department of Spanish & Linguistics with support from the Philadelphia Alumni Writers House, and the Academic Innovation Fund Grant by the Faculty Center. This event is designed to commemorate the National Hispanic Heritage Month 2017 at Franklin & Marshall College. |

October 21 - 26, 2017 The Philadelphia Alumni Writers House puts poetry into motion with its public art project, Poetry Rolls. Our van, covered with magnetic words and filled with poetry activities, will make stops at schools and community gathering places throughout Lancaster during the lasr week of October, giving Lancastrians of all ages the chance to make and share new poems. Staffed by our own fantastic student staffers, Poetry Rolls brings not only poetry but boundless creativity to the Lancaster community. Look for our traveling poetry playground—a van covered in magnetized words and crammed with volunteers and fun activities—throughout Lancaster this week. Come out to make a poem, share a poem, receive a poem! Poetry Rolls is a project by The Philadelphia Alumni Writers House at Franklin & Marshall College. |

Creative Writing: The Art of Prose in Spanish: “Infographic Travel Guides”
Curator | Exhibition at the Shadek-Fackenthal Library,
Franklin & Marshall College. April 15 - May 15, 2017 [Extended until July 15, 2017] This exhibition consists of 12 infographics designed by the students in the course Creative Writing: The Art of Prose in Spanish [SPA375, Spring 2017] conducted by Sergio Díaz-Luna at the Department of Spanish and Linguistics at F&M. The infographics present many different destinations, illustrating students' vision of the geographical and human landscape, and depicting the iconic elements of these places. These visual compositions can be read [both in English and Spanish] as fragments of outdoor literature, guide manuals or graphic travel memoirs. This exhibition is made possible with the support of the Shadek-Fackenthal Library at F&M. |

Modern Languages/Franklin & Marshall College December 2016 - April 2017 Plume is Franklin & Marshall College’s Foreign Languages Literary magazine, open to submissions from any members of the College and its community. It publishes a magazine each spring containing poems and short stories in diverse languages with English translations accompanying each. The magazine also presents a collection of stories, and articles written by abroad student writers. The images that accompany the edition, tell us another story, the visual tale of their travels while visiting other countries. Plume is made possible thanks to the support of the Philadelphia Alumni Writers House.

February 2017, and February 2018 The Spanish and Latin American Film Festival evokes "reel inspiration" with outstanding films from across Spain and Latin America, making since 2013 a selection of cinema gems available to our students, staff, and fellow colleagues on campus and the entire Lancaster community. We are certain that an event like this one continues to be crucial in exposing our students and the entire F&M community to the numerous cultural, socio-economic, political and ethnic manifestations found in the Spanish-speaking communities all over the world. |
Advanced Spanish Conversation and Composition: “15 infographics representing the Magical Realism in Como agua para chocolate”Curator | Exhibition at the Shadek-Fackenthal Library,
Franklin & Marshall College. December 10, 2016 - January 16, 2017 This exhibition consists of 15 infographics designed by the students in the Advanced Spanish Conversation and Composition class conducted by Sergio Díaz-Luna [SPA222-0, Fall 2016] from the Department of Spanish and Linguistics at F&M. The infographics illustrate our experiences reading, summarizing, and identifying the episodes that exemplify the aesthethic of magical realism in the book as well as in the film adaptation.
